If I have a look at the coral extension and how they bloom, I must say that this is one healthy tank you have there. Well done.

I see (it looks like it) you have a strawberry coral on the top section of your tank and it does not look healthy. I have the same. Their survival rate is very low in a tank. I have moved mine from the top to the middle area of the tank, with a bit of shade, and no other coral close to it- it seems as if it is doing a little better now.

Nice pic's, what is that on the right hand side on top of the LR.
Look like you have some major surface movement.

Looks great especially as it's quite new still. I'd use a finer substate that doesn't trap detritus. Pity that you're not here, as we've got just the right sand here in Gonubie.

    Hi

Thanks for the comments. Will post more pictures soon, including the engine room.

Let me try answering all questions in one post.

The pink coral is new and is looking a bit better than Sunday when I got it. Should I move it lower?

    Lighting is 3 x 150w MH 2 X T5 38w half 12K half 20K

The only issue with the substrate in I have bit of PO4 around 0.05 – 0.1 ppm nitrates at undetectable – I won’t say zero as test kits are not all that accurate. The coralline growth suggest that PO4 is not too much of an issue.

I will at some point start replacing the substrate a little at a time. I fist need to sort out the background as it is looking sad.

Hey we all know the story. Our first purchase a bag of crushed coral a sack of salt proberly a hydrometer and a bag of stinking rock feeling very pround of ourselves that we are now in the marine hobby. How cool did that fist lump of live rock look that first day ? How little did we know !!!

Sorry to nick your thread Martin

Mudshark - I've been told that if you use finer sand it will compact
