Below are some marine crustaceans and other organisms, all under various fluorescence excitations.

Waldo, please can you explain the process and equipment required.

LED and fluorescence "POP" is a flavour of the popular aspirations aquariust. LED is doing it for the naked eye. The camera can do it with help in other ways.

    Please share your experiences.

Well you can use various different microscopes but you will need at least:

    1) Microscope with trinoc head for camera
    2) Some camera mounted to the trinoc head
    3) The microscope must support fluorescence
    4) Fluorescence cube to create correct excitation and barrier frequencies
    5) Fluorescence light source - these are quite pricey - typically MH or Xenon Arc or Mercury Vapour.

    Process? Lots of patience.

Is this tech only available to microscopes? Or, it seems to be available to diving and possibly aquarists photography.

Is it only the filter that is required or is there a special flash/strobe/light that is necessary?

    Nonono....

The photos in this thread are all taken with a research grade microscope. The photos I have taken in other threads were taken with the nightsea barrier filter and a normal DSLR.

PS: The first image represents 2.2mm from left to right. The last image represents approximately 0.3mm from left to right, these cannot be taken with a normal camera.

OK Sorry to confuse. I understand.

Can we continue on the basis of fluoresce from a entry level DSLR point of view . Maybe a new thread?

    Thanks Waldo
