    Hi All
I am new to this hobby. I am starting a 370lt reef tank for my office at work.
One of the things I do for a living is manufacture LED lamps, mostly for mining applications. I only want to use LED lights in my system. We also manufacture our own automation equipment. We are currently working on a small computer to control our injection-molding machines. I would like to alter this computer in. to a controller for my tank. Does anyone know of someone that sells 12V air pumps and heaters for fish tanks?

hi marcel welcome to MASA, its great to have new memebers here :)

that sounds like a lovely project you are planning and 370l is a great start off size tank (i say start off size as everyone eventually wants to go bigger :))

we have a number of members looking at LED lighting systems, lots of chatter going on at the moment, i'll look the thread up and point you in the right direction.

regarding airpumps you will find we use very few (if indeed ever) air pumps in a marine tank, most of the O2 comes from areation in the skimmer and or gass exchange. You will however find 12v bilge pumps (straight water movers) from boating supply compaines and that might be a better direction to search in :)

all that aside, tell us a little about that 370l tank and lets see if we can help you make it a beaut :)

welcome to MASA and happy postings:)

    Welcome Marcel,

You are going to make loads of friends on MASA.

Don't know if you will get a 12v heater, but pretty sure you will find a 12v air pump. How do you find the cost on LED vs the normal T5 and MH. I have done some reading but it seem to be very costly at the moment.

Welcome to MASA Marcel, hope you enjoy it here with us. Please read through my signature for some great beginner info on how to setup a marine tank.
Good luck with the project and keep us updated.
I did my apprenticeship in that area, met my wife there and my aunt stays in Westonaria.
Tell me, do the girls still make the first move there?

A VERY WARM WELCOME to MASA, Marcel! Great to have you on-board! I have family in Carltoville..... My uncle works (used to work? not sure anymore) in the mines there.... Does "Wesdriefontein" tell you anything? It rang a bell in my mind - could be the mine's name?

In any case! Good luck with your new start into the hobby.

PLEASE READ a HUGE amount. Reading, and asking as many questions as possible, is the BEST formula for success. There is ONE thing that is an ABSOLUTE MUST in this hobby:
And that is a HUGE HUGE HUGE AMOUNT of PATIENCE!

Without patience, your are likely to make a lot of mistakes, which could cost you, and your lifestock, dearly....

Please ask as many questions as it takes, for you to become the most successful reefkeeper that you CAN BE....

Good luck! And enjoy the hobby! This "journey into marines" becomes a lifestyle!
