    Heloooo all masa reefers!

    it is with GR8 pleasure to share with you all, mandarin's new marine WORX. it has been 3 weeks now since his 1.5m H2O burst. He is so happy and excited about his new built and asked me to share it with all of you.

    The new tank is

    1.5m x 760mmx 600mm

    Base = 12mm euro braced
    Sides = 10mm euro braced

    Here's some pics of his progress.

    The stand that my father built himself. He is indeed a handy DIY man! :thumbup:

    We decided on a C2C overflow. You can see in the pic that the one side is shorter than the other. This is were the overflow box will be. We will have the complete width for surface skimming.

    Tank with the bottom and sides siliconed. We still have to finish the rest of the bracing.

    Happy New Year to all masa members. Hope you all get the best from your reef this year!!

    Just an update to show what kept us busy the whole of december. Yesterday was a lekka day, very excited cause we finally started the new beast yesterday. But before we go there some pics of the build.

    The overflow box with 2x 38mm holes. 1 for the overflow to sump and 1 for the return.

    [IMG]

    It took 4 people to get this tank on its stand. Finally in place and we are on our way.
    Its important to make 100% sure that the tank is level....otherwise you may wake up on your bed floating down the driveway :)

    [IMG]

    Time to fill it up.

    [IMG]

    5 days later and voila!!! Heater and flow was temp just to get the salt properly dissolved.

    [IMG]

    C2C overflow working like a dream. never thought it could be that good. Water level at 550mm.

    [IMG]

    Shot of the overflow box. You can c the overflow pipe to the sump and the return just behind it. One would think that a 38mm hole is to small for overflow but its unbelievable how much water can run through a pipe that size.

    As i said, the tank is up and running since yesterday. We successfully moved all of the LS and corals over to the new tank. Next post will be the engine room and mandarins DIY skimmer performance and also the scaping and inmates..... you all have a lekka day!!!

    Looking great there Mandarin/Goby! Fantastic job you guys did there!

    Goby - that does not look like any of the problematic xanthid species crabs that I know of (that cause problems).

    Perhaps try and catch the critter and place it in the sump - just to be safe......
