decided to go bonsai and have a small tank to play in. i assembled live rock yesterday. (fiji) four packs of pratleys later ! i let it set and filled tank today with red sea coral pro and ro. i intend to dose microbe lift , fauna marin ultra bac and bacteria to speed up cycle. i also robbed my dsb of some aragonite for the boyu (11 month old dsb). here is a pic just after filling and prior to aragonite being added.[IMG]

Looks good mandarinman. Never thought I'd have to "glue" the rocks in place in my tank, but true as nuts my very big KZN urchin went bulldozing last night in search of something... I guess I'll have to buy the Pratley putty in bulk to get all my rocks secured. I must admin I was totally surprised my the amount of rock an urchin is able to move around - and they weren't small little fist size rocks either.

Your setup looks good from what I can see, would love to see the pics as it progresses.

standard stuff in back at moment. plan to add rowafos and purigen and carbon.

urchins are funny the way they nudge things around. the blue tuxedo urchin is my favourite

In addition to my 6-foot monster, I have a Boyuo TL550 (The 130l one). It's stock standard as far as lighting, filtration, etc is concerned and is doing very well. It's been running since about August. No signs of any algea or cyano. I must say that I'm a fan of regular water changes, and understock. Have some zoa's and button polyps that are doing well. Oh, and I've got some filter floss in the back as well, last I changed it was about a month ago - usually change it weekly, but I noticed some unusual little "animals" living in it, and don't have the heart to simply throw it out :)

In my experience so far, I really like the Boyou - except for the over heating issue...

I was advised to get rid of the ceramics and bioballs ... I still used the filter sponge but used a finer one..(clean weekly) and a phosphate remover

I also added Live Rock Rubble to the 3rd comparment... this was in the TL 550 I am not sure what the 440 looks like in the back...

I still have the PL tube and ballast, I never got around to setting it up as I didnt know how exactly ..

Enjoy the nano.. will follow this thread

I was also advised to get rid of the ceramics, but haven't had any bad experiences thus far (once again I don't stock this tank heavily, and it's in the process of becoming my frag tank. I'll only keep frags an a CuC in here. Still have the bioballs on there.

I read in someone's signature on (i think, can't remember exactly) Reefcentral, that liverock rubble is just about equal to bioballs wrt detritus build-up. The 440 is practically the same as the 550 in the back, just a bit smaller.

I'm also using the stock standard PL tubes the tank came with. I'm not one for "modding" things. Only issue I have with the tank is (over)heating, but thanks to a fan from a fellow reefer this is also just about sorted out.
