Can multiple type, species of micro algae be kept together in the sump?

ive seen at Julies pets in Gateway,all different types of macroalgea mixed together.so i would say yes.but personally i would go for just one type,and my choice is Chaeto

You mean, macro algae, and they can, but, for instance caulerpa wages war against chaeto, etc. Most people recommend chaeto.

BTW, the same thing happens in micro-algae cultures - one species generally dominates until it's the only one remaining.

Sorry meant macro :whistling::whistling:

Generally keep only one species of algae as they do wage a chemical warfare against each other and these chemicals end up in your system. Cheato is the one to go for as it is fairly non toxic to your water column.
