I am relatively new to marines. Have a nano (120l) that have been running for one year now. My new tank that is cycling now is 800L and I am aiming for a LS that is suitable for me as a beginner, relative easy to care for (don`t want fish that needs feeding 4 times a day) and go nicely together.

Here is a list of fish I have been looking at, please advise:p

    Emperor Angelfish
    Queen Angelfish
    Longnose Hawkfish
    Yellow Tang
    Blue Eye Tang
    Naso Tang
    Blonde Naso Tang
    Tri-Color Anthias
    Geometric Pygmy Hawk
    Marine Beta
    Teira Batfish
    Scrawled Cowfish
Copperband Butterflyfish <-- Know I have to wait with this one
    Tahitian Butterflyfish
    Golden Butterflyfish
    Black & White Heniochos
    Firefish
    Fantail Filefish
    Bicolor Goatfish
    Yellow Watchman Goby
    Banded Sleeper Goby
    Blue Spot Jawfish
    Splendid Dottyback
    Foxface Rabbitfish
    Crosshatch Triggerfish
    Yellow Coris Wrasse
McCosker's Flasher Wrasse <-- one male and two female
    Pineconefish

How many fish is normal to keep in a system of this size????
Will be a mixed reef, lots of hiding places

shees knut, you not looking for simple blue green chromis are you :) thats quite a list, a number of the fish are rare and prob not likley to get hold of, and some ive never heard of :)

and i am afraid those butterfly and angels are likley to play havoc with you corals, but let me look to see whoch of those fish i could possibly source for u.

    Just to name a few...

Most or all of the angels as well as butterflies on your list should eat or nip most corals, with the exception of possibly the copperband butterly.

Batfish not a good idea with corals and you need a sizable tank to keep one with the amount of fish you want to put in your tank.

The cowfish can also be a risky fish in the case that it gets stressed out or dies and pollutes your tank with toxins.

    Crosshatch trigger = $$$big bucks$$$

Google each of this fish as well (ie Bicolour Goatfish reef safe) and there should be some info on each of these fish regarding ease to keep and reef tank compatibility. Be careful of fish sales websites though. They tend to make fish seem easier to keep or more reef safe than they really are!

    Enjoy!

Yes, so I heard but as far as I can tell by checking it should be fine if the shrimp is in the tank before the Longnose hawkfish is introdused. Shrimps that is introduced after the longnose will be eaten. Anyone got experiences with this?

There is a good chance that they may eat corals :( Don`t know the odds but something like 70/ 30??? I just think that the emperor angel is stunning, so it just might be worth it. If I am lucky I get one that don`t eat and I definitely like to get one.

Is there someone with experience with this fish as to keeping it reef safe?

Dude, angels will eat LPS and a couple of button polyps. just don't keep these corals and enjoy an Emperor, although I prefer the Queen and Arabian Angels:)

Thanks Warr. after what I hear they also eat clams like there is now tomorrow, is that so? If I`m not mistaking meek keeps angles in his sps dominated system with no problems, is there some way to up the odds?

You say they eat a couple of botton polyps, do you know some types that is known to be safe??

    They will go for Clams.

Angels generally don't bother SPS. When it comes to Buttons and LPS, once they get a taste they won't stop
