Lps ID please. Hammer?

    Can some one please give me an id on this coral. I always thought it was a hammer coral but the more I look on the web the less I am convinced.

    Euphyllia sp. looks like a hammer coral, also called anchor coral

    Thanks Maybe it is just because it is small. The ones I have seen on the web the polips look much more tightly packed together.

    yes I have a similar one Kevin. I bought it from Moolis...Hammer Coral Euphyllia ancora I believe.

    Still have to pick up that xenia from you sometime...

    It's a Euphyllia paraancora. E. ancora has a flabbello-meandroid (maze shaped) corallite. E. paraancora has a phaceloid (branching) structure, like the one in the photo.
