I got this coral a while back and would like an ID. It was sold to me as a Rice Coral(Definitely not) but research has lead me to think Pearl Bubble Coral, but with less bubbly look.

Just after being put in tank

It has grown a bit but still looks like this and extends quite a bit more

It has some nasty sweeper tentacles

Anyone out there know what it is?

Definitely does not have those colors. But has the same mouths as an elegance.

This is the closest I have found.

The top left one is the right color but like I said, not as bubbly. It has been in the tank for at least three months and never looked quite like this so dunno if it is.

It says on the live aquaria website that the elegance coral can have many different forms...

That is an elegance coral, i thought judging by the first photos it might be but your last one proved it. Very nice find, be carefull about them, they are sometimes very hard to keep and dont live very long in some tanks, in others they go on for ages. How much did you get it for?

Do they usually look over extended like that because I know with some other lps corals like a torch coral, when they look over extended like that it means they aren't getting enough light...

Sorry but that is defiantly not an Elegance. Your first guess was correct, Pearl or Pimple Bubble Coral or even better, Physogyra lichtensteini.
This is a very hardy coral and expands nicely in lower flow.

He's over extending like that cos it looks like you've got a lot of flow where he is.
    Apparently they like low flow.
I have the normal bubble coral and loads of flow in my tank and he kind of gets pulled up like that by the current. When I turn off the pumps he expands beautifully.
Lots of flow doesn't seem to be detrimental though as mine has grown some extra heads.

Steve take a pic with the pumps off - might be easier to ID when he's not getting pulled around

These photo's are old. The coral was in the tank about a week and the tank was newly setup. It definitly likes lower flow. I had 2 try and position all my pumps so that that part of the tank has as little flow as possible. A bit difficult since i have 14000L/H water turnover in my display. I haven't been target feeding this coral. Should i be? It seems to be doing well without it. I will try to take updated picks and post when i'm not posting from my phone. Thanks for the id mille.

I'm with millepora, that's a bubble coral. And Yes fishy steve, you have to target feed them. Give them small pieces of shrimp but put a half cut 2L cooldrink bottle over it so that it can it in peace otherwise your shrimps will take the food directly out of their mouths..

It's a pearl coral like Millepora said. I have one in my tank and you just have to keep it away from certain corals. If you see those long stringy sweeper tentacles developing, move the guys because he's after something

    Agreed

In my experience, bubble corals tend to have large bubbles when conditions are not 100 favorable, but look like the first photos of this thread when they are really happy - so congratulations, you are doing it right :)
