Could low pH and KH be the reason for frederik (the ocealaris clown) swimming slow in one spot?

    KH - 4
    pH - 7.6

    Seachem Reef Buffer?

Is your reading in degrees hardness or degrees meq? If it degrees hardness you had better get that KH up to about 8. Do it slowly however as not to shock the system. Do you have any corals or fish only?

I'm suprised they're not dead. What test kit are you using? You can use bicarbonate of soda as an alternative to the reef buffer

    Hi
By any chance you using a Gas heater at Home?
I had mines on last week for a few hours last week, and noticed that my PH dropped at about 5 hours after use of the gas...scrambled to increase the PH....got an electronic PH reader.
Realised the GAS was the only new addition...swithced it off, aired the house, swithced on Aircon and within an hour the PH slooowwlly started to increase. The next morning the PH was stable again....
Just what i have seen...BTW never occured before ,...only ever happened when i used the GAS HEater at home..

Yup, gas heaters, closed windows & doors cause co2 to increase and Ph to drop.

Also make sure you have adequate surface turnalance for O2 - CO2 exchange. Lack of O2 will also cause a fish to breath heavily.

Be very careful in using buffers to raise PH & KH when DO is low and CO2 high.
