Copperbands don't do well in captivity as they often don't eat frozen foods or flakes. What are you going to do if all the aptaisia is finnished?

The LFS around the corner actually grows and sells aptaisia for people that need it (I'm assuming for their CBBs and their peppermints). Sounds so weird when people are actually needing more of the pests and paying for it.

    Aiptasia/Copperbands.

First thing i hope everyone had a good christmas and a good new year.

Ok one should not buy a copperband to clear there tank,s of aiptasia
it is very hit and miss, not all copperbands eat aiptasia.
I do have a copperband in my tank and if a aiptasia sticks it,s head up
it takes no notice of it .It as all ready been said they don,t live very long.

If you can find one that takes prepared foods then I dont see a problem with it. Just get the shop to feed it some frozen food and see if it eats. One thing that I have found so far is that they dont seems to like big aptaisia. My one nips the small ones but ignores the big ones.

I know elite aquatics in tygervalley had some. An almost surefire way to get them to eat is to place fresh black mussel which has been slightly opened into the tank. Unfortunately this does not work too well with boisterous fish in the tank. It is a procedure which should be employed during quarantine.
To keep them healthy in the long run,, it is essential to have a refugium wih a healthy pod population. Rocks should be placed in the tank for a few minutes from the fuge on a regular basis. Amazing how tame they become with this method. Eventually they will eat from the rocks whilst still in your hand.
