    Hi,

I am busy setting up a venture to mine local live rock at Kosi Bay. I have been granted the mining rights. My company aims to harvest at least a ton of rock per month. Indicative pricing would be approximately R10 per kg to hobbyists. We would also look into going into sps, lps on the Mozambique coast to expand the business by 2017.Any views or thoughts on my new business venture would be appreciated.

Great initiative! That part of the coast is too far, the roads too crap and nothing to do in the area to visit anyway.

Would this not destroy the coral reefs?

Won't matter, global warming is already destroying them. The reefs will live on in our homes.

Great idea. Finally an aquarium product that wont be effected by the rand/dollar exchange rate.

LOL... Started off as an APRIL'S FOOL Joke ...

But due to overwhelming responses maybe I should proceed. Any investors, maybe we should try bottling NSW as the first venture..

    Thought the maths didn't add up. 1000kgs x R10 only gets you to R10 000 a month.

Do you need investors? Or just buyers?

I was keen to invest. Was waiting for bank to confirm the loan.

Already been done. Knew a farmer who would fill up his milk truck and sell the water inland.

I used to do it when I went to Sodwana bay to dive,We used to fill bottles with water and then we sold the water to workers in our section at Iscor. Most of the time we would get our petrol money back this way.We did this about once a month.

Try to ship some of the rock to India, since they are not allowed to have their own.
