    Hi masa
I am in the process of building up my tank , so busy getting all the things I need.
My Question is about liverock ,do I need to buy let's say 50kg of live rock or can I buy a quarter of that nd just place ordinary rock and let the organism from the liverock crow onto the ordinary rock ?

You can buy a few live pieces and seed dry or base rock....will become live. But when you say ordinary rock, what do you mean?

You cant just use rocks from your garden etc...

Buy some dry base rock from LFS....carib sea primo reef rock is very nice...

Start your cycle with all your rock needed. Else you will start another cycle later when you add more rocks at later stage

    difficult to say how much.
Some rocks are heavier than other, so to say 50KG can be misleading.

What you want is nice size stackable rocks. That is very porous.

Any additional media in the sump can only help with the nitrogen cycle. Media is any surface your biological communities can live on or in like base rock, coral rubble, shell grit, bio cubes-balls etc etc. Just make sure there can be no rubbish get to your sump at all. Clean media is very functional media. Your sump is for mechanicle and biological functions and the only life that should be in there is bacteria, protists, macro algae and anything that can get to your sump as micro sized creatures.

    1KG per Gallon is a good rule I use, 1G = 3.89L

Start with as much LR as you can afford. don't bother with fake rocks or other stuff

@Nemo84 we never use live rock anymore. Live rock carries so many undesirables like aiptasia, Majano, flat worms, mantis shrimps, crabs, algae etc. Due to the way live rock is collected and shipped most of the bacteria is dead by the time it lands in the LFS. Best to use a dead rock that has been treated or a synthetic rock. You then just add a "good" bacteria that will kickstart your system. Far more cost effective.
