live rock???

    Hi every1
    I'd love to make live rock don't know what south african cement to use tho..
    Any suggestions?? Thank you.

    you can use the normal PPC, but the white portland is the best cement

    PPC????? Wouldn't that raise ph levels after some time lol

    If I had to go to a hardware store and ask for portland I or II I'm pretty sure they'll
    Be confused. I don't think PPC or Arisam would work, then again I'm nt to sure.

    Just buy base rock it will work out cheaper in the end and look a lot better IMHO.

    Welcome.

    There are some great articles on the net about making live rock. The one i have seen and still want to try is to use coarse salt and white cement. The new rock then has to be kept in water for a min of 8 weeks to allow salt to dissolve and also aids in making rock strong as it cures in water.

    Yeah but making 1 huge rock would look beta. Do you really think making live rock is xpensive.

    I tried it once, didn't look to good, took to long to cure and algae seemed to love it. Started growing algae all over it where the live rock right next to it didn't. The cement is about R25 for a 1Kg bag
