Live Rock in DSB

    Hi All

    I am Want to start a 1m * 400mm DSB for a Nanno tank. Do I put in live rock as well. Or do I build a separate chaimber for that. Please advice thanks.

    You could place it on eggrate above the dsb. If it is ontop of it, it creates dead spots.

    Yip, do not place the rock directly on the sand. A few spots touching would not be a problem. Best bet is to place a eggcrate piece suspended about 2cm above the same. With the rock on top of the eggcrate.

    call electrical wholesalers..they should have,agree with the previous posts,don't put rock on a DSB that would block the flow as the DSB relies on flow along the sand to function

    can even use the bottom part of a milk crate.

    Anny ideas. If I blow it off with flow pump 1 hour and they are back. ???

    looks like cyano, what are your NO3 and PO4 levels? what is the flow like?

    Flow.-Boyo tank with stock flow pump and Seio Prop 320.

    NO3=2
    PO4 =0.03

    Tank cycle is still new. 5 weeks.

    no deep sand yet. I did order one today. Stand 2,6m sump 2,5m dsb 1m

    seriously an hour? what lights are on? turn them off and establish if its air from the rock, gas from the dying algae or gas from very very fast growing algae. More details definitely needed starting with what the hell that actually is in the middle? a rock?

    Then nothing to stress sbout as your tank is still cycling.

    new tank, so its still finding an equilibrium, those params while not high for an established tank, a new tank algae will be the first to use them to grow.

    Thats normal. Weve all had it, once your tank is settled it will go away.
