    Morning all

Since the juvenile tropicals are about 3 months away and the weather is warming up (tomorrow is supposed to be fairly windy), I've got a rock collection mission on the cards for tomorrow morning (neap high tide). I've been approached by a couple of reefers who need rock for new setups, and actually got my own last weekend. Legally speaking, all you need is a permit for misc. inverts (we manually remove other species such as abalone in the water).

PM me if you are interested - we'll be hitting flat-rocks and Cape Receif.

We'll either meet at my place (for those on the western-side of PE), or at flat-rocks for the rest of you.

Shell grit - in moderation. I have yet to see a law that specifically states that we may not....

There is typically a "non-scientific" debate raging across the fori about whether there is an associated phosphate/other algae enticing nutrient problem associated with locally collected LR. I have no problems with local marine LR, and know of only one PE collector (out of 300 or so) that has a problem with local rock.

My logic is that the rocks leach out all nutrients in the sea anyway, and unless you are running a water parameter system that is significantly different to NSW (the ideal water), some phosphates leaching is going to be the least of your problems....
