Its called a Collette Reef Basslet. I was told he is pretty rare.

Has anybody seen one of these before?

He is eating well, I just want to learn a bit more about him, but I can't find much online.

    I'd appreciate any help.

Pics of from him floating, he's a very secretive little guy so tricky to get pics of him. He is a lot prettier than in these pics.

I know, I like it though, its something different. Of course i'd like a candy basslet, but at R7000 or so it's a little out of my price range :)

He is an interesting little fish though, he takes mysis from my hand. I woud like to learn a bit more about them though...

They biggest problem with all bass- and bass-type fish - they are predators! And to get them to feed on frozen food, as well as keep them healthy on frozen foods, MIGHT just be difficult.

But - that said - awesome little fish!

Thanks Guys. I agree, they like mini predators. I am trying to feed as much variety as i can. I also don't have any shrimp in the system.

Do u guys have any suggestions on what I could feed the little fella to keep him healthy.

I was told that it is the only one in the country, is this true? Just curious as I was hoping to get some personal experience with him.

Yuri, thanks for all the info, looks like an awesome book you got there

The other question I had is with regards to his tank mates, currently I have 2 chalk bass, 1 female Bellus angel, 1 Potters Angel and a mandarin. How do you guys think he will get on with these tank mates.

Oh and with regard to what I'm feeding him, he is getting vitamin enriched brine and mysis shrimp.

Eating very well, in fact when I hold a bit of food near the entrance of his little cave he actually comes and grabs pieces of food off the little block. It's brilliant you can actually feel him tugging at the frozen block of food :)

I got two pacific candy bassletts(poor man's candy basslet) I put them in my 1.2 at the same time and they are fine. They are being fed enriched mysis and are happy. And healthy.
