Lights for a cube ?

    Hello Guy's

    I am thinking of upgrading to a 900x900x650 cube, which light will I need to use ?

    in my opinion, how much do you have to spend - as you know top of the range will hurt you if you on a tight or reasonable budget.

    I would like to buy the correct lighting the first time. even if it takes few months extra.

    Previous setup I had 2x 150w 15 000k metal halides with 4x t5's not sure if MH are still popular because I see alot of guy's are using LED's

    For that size, you might be ok for about R5000 if you go LED's and can be patient enough to wait for a second hand unit to become available. You probably need 2 units back to front for that wide tank. For T5's you might get a reasonable unit for a little less, but then you have to factor in bulb replacement cost 12 to 18 months down the line.

    MH's are still good as well for growing corals, but most people have moved away from that due to the electricity costs as well as the heat it releases.

    Yes, if you get the right ones. Look at the 3w chips, Cree or Bridgelux are normally the best.
