Hi. Just want to know which is best. A 90cm light with 4 t5 bulb or a 1w with 42 led in. Which is best for tank 1m x 45cm x 70cm. And 1w led is equal to how many watt t5 floresent

The t5 will still beat the led unit by far. (If bulbs are new)
Its very difficult to to compare watts of t5 to watts of leds because there are so many variances that play a role like par & pur output, leds with or without lenses, age of t5 bulbs...
But to give you an indication. An ecotech radion unit of 130w will equal/beat the par (photosynthetic active radiation) output of a 250W metal halide unit.
So in this case we can assume that the leds emit 95% more par per watt than a metal halide.

What do you want to keep in the tank?

Hi Tyson. Welcome to MASA :)
It depends if you plan on keeping coral or not. That LED unit is quite low powered but will be fine for fish only and some coral that only need a small amount of light.

There is no exact conversion in wattage from LED to T5 as there are many different models LED's that have different Efficiencies. Even though LED's are more efficient the 4 x t5 unit is the winner in terms of light output. It's 39w T5's right?

What do you plan on keeping?

meaning 42 Leds of 1w each?

The T5 unit will be better.

Was that 3w leds, then it could be better than T5, most likely rather

Not sure if its 70 or 45 deep?

anyway, if your tank is 70cm deep, then 1w leds will not do it.

45cm deep, then 1w can maybe, depending on coral types and placement

LOL Deep is also referred to as width. Best to quote and ask for width and height. :)

What are you looking to spend on a light unit if I may ask?

then the led unit with 1w leds will not work. Get yourself a secondhand T5 unit, or even a secondhand MH unit. For now, its a lot cheaper than going leds. Rather spend your money on a good skimmer
