    hi all,

i have just one question, i am planning on building a tank with dim, 2.4 L X 60 W X 80 H. water level is going to be around 70 cm.

and i am going build the reef about +/- 50 h all round, with ledgers and so on.

    any has any ideas if i should run 2 X 250w MH with T5's in the centre or 3 X 250w MH's.

i want to keep both soft and hard corals.

    any advice will help

I would go with three 250W halides with maybe four 54W T5's for better light distribution throughout the length of the tank

agree with Tony here what bulbs are you planning to run 10/14/20K? 3 x 250 would be the answer but the reflectors are the important part. i would still add some T5, perhaps a mixture of blues and actinics to have the best of both worlds..

    3 x MH's won't be enough to give good coverage on a 2,4 tank.
