Hi All. I'm fairly new to this forum. I have a 517Lt corner tank (317dt & 200sump). I have 6 x 24w t5 lights, however I think the photosynthetic t5 lighting is not reaching the bottom as the distance between light and sand is 1m (100cm). I am thinking of building a small Metal halide light fixture to add to my current lighting setup. Which brings me to why I'm posting, 1) After researching quite a bit I've found that MH setups are very costly and 2) Does anyone here have any other advise regarding what I could do about MH or alternatives for this problem. Thank you all in advance.

How deep is the tank itself? the water column?

One option is to have a rather tall rock structure, to bring the corals closer to the surface.

Hi Riaan. Thanks for the reply. The water itself is 85cm deep. I'll post a pic of my setup now, maybe that will help.
