    hi fellow reefers

I have a question. Currently i have 2 125w metal hailides and t5combo in terms of the blue tubes. A friend who sells led lighting said to me i should take my hailides out and replace them woth 10w led floodlamps. So the question i ask will this work and would the corals flourish under these lights?

    All opinions or facts welcome

    Cheers

You'll need to give the exact specs of the LEDs before we can give proper feedback

my first guess is no, why? i sell LED floodlights and the colour spectrum is not perfect for corals per say, while it might work in the short term, i dont advise it.

its great for algae, so it could benefit corals, but it will also fuel nuisance algae too so one slight nutrient spike and good luck :p

    yip me too
I got 2 of them running. They are now really cheap from the Chinese shops. Around R100 to R110.
@brentv brought some special LED spotlights back with him from China. They were higher Calvin rating and worked nicely.
