I also moved the existing two t5 lights outward a bit and added another one between the two. Negates the little moonlights but they can easily be moved.

I still want to replace the two standard ballast with electronic ballasts to stop the ballasts from heating up the tank. This will also be more energy efficient and the globes should last a lot longer.

    Hi there Steven,

Please wont you explain how you got T5's in the hood, in the first place. Still using standard tubes that came with boyu, but want stronger lights in there without destroying the hood. Prefere the aestetic compact clean look of the nano when hood is closed, if you get what I mean. Also one of the reasons I took a nano. But now I need to make a plan to get stronger lights in there. I have no idea where to start looking though. Globe sizes, wattage etc..

    Thanks Charl

Ps: please forgive me for posting in this thread, don't mean to interrupt, just adding to the toppic.

hi guys could you tell me does each globe unit have its own ballast in the hood? which means if i add another light would i have to add a another ballast or could i put in a bigger one(ballast) for all 3 globes? do you get stronger globes than the PL-24W for the boyu tl550
