    Hi Justin,

Good luck with this venture! I must say that there are so many combinations available in lighting units that they have already covered almost everything! So my feeling is that there is nothing really to add that is not currently available.

Are you looking to manifacture fittings? If so...why not build to specifications once ordered? You could have a shell and then custom add what the individual is looking for?!?!

thats the idea eventually. a mate of mine has been battling to find a unit that can carry 6 T5s. i want to build a unit that can be modified to watever specs one desires, whether flourecent or MH. and at the fraction of the cost. have you seen a lighting unit with build in timers?

Hi Justinm, this sounds interesting. Please keep this updated. I am looking to do something similar after months of not finding a good light at a reasonable price.
RE: timers; the best is to purchase timers at Makro/Game (the electronic ones) and then set them up accordingly.
Also look up Alanod (a reflective material that can possibly be used as reflectors) at the Argent Group in Durban. 0.4mm reflective sheeting. 031 – 7008594. Speak to Jerry.
Good luck, am looking forward to your progress.

    very nice idea.
I would like to see variable speed cooling fans inside lighting units, with auto dimming instead of the conventional way these units switch on and off.
