Evening, I would like to upgrade my lighting in the nano, can anybody tell me whats the lowest wattage in metal halide(the blue one).

Where can I purchase a DIY metal halide kit from and do you know what the cost will be.
Would i be able to use the standard hood and install it or will it burn the hood.

I have also read of the guys changing to LED lights, can somebody please shed some light on the topic(no pun intended). What type of LED's must I look out for and where can I purchase it from.

    Thanks.

Hi Samier - I am not 100% sure if you get the 20000k metal halide in 70 watt's. But, 70 watt's is the lowest wattage in metal halides that you gets....

definately do get the 70W 20,000K bulbs

Think aquamedic do them (10K-20K), as do a number of other manufacturers (HQI)

That is good to upgrade lights before adding a nennie, but just remember to wait a while before adding one as your tank is still new? Nennies need very stable water conditions and a mature tank that is at least 9 months old :)
You mentioned your tank is still in it's infancy? How long has it been running now?

It has grown on egg crate. What I did was cable tie the egg crate to the back of the opening where the water flows to the back of the filtration chambers.

I had the egg crate on the subsrtate but when I picked the crate one day i found a lot of debtris laying there.

I do like the current spot a lot more. The leather like substance is now attaching to the back of tank.

    HELP with Star polyps

Hi guys, The star polyps that I have in my tank is growing like crazy. Is there any material that I can buy that I can place in the tank so that it can grow on there(I was thinking that black material the guys @ the LFS use on the front of the tanks) instead of my side viewing glass. I will then remove it, cut it and swap/sell/give away to fellow reefers.

Try tiles, Samier. Perhaps the small square tiles that you get for showers (called mosaic)....
