Hi

I have seen a vid on Youtube where the guy uses a styrofoam sheet to lift his skimmer.

My question is what can I use to lift my skimmer because my water level in the sump is too deep.

Can I use polystirene sheets in the water?

Any other ideas apart from eggcrate?

if about 50mm, use two short pieces of PVC pipe. Lay them flat with a glass piece on top. Or eggcrate piece.

Higher than 50mm. Built a glass box.
Or, use 90 degree elbows on the ends of those two PVC pipes. And use 4 short pieces as legs for as high as you want.

I would drill rather large holes, 15mm or bigger in the horizontal pipe. As they tend to collect air bubbles in them over time. Not an issue if you only use the pipes, but can become one where you use the elbows.

You can go overboard and add T pieces etc to create a PVC table even. Will be sturdier if the legs are long.

If you know the amount you want to lift it say its 70mm i would cut 4 70mm pieces of 50mm pvc pipe and glue them to a sheet of perspex or glass to make a table to stand your skimmer on
