Ok, so I may be posted to Hong Kong with my better half (I am a house husband) and I was wondering does anyone know what the way of life is like there, or maybe even lived there? I know property prices and rentals are through the roof, but their income tax rate is only 17%. Any info would be great, might be going in six months.

LOL! Been checking out some web sites that sell tanks, I can get a 2.4m long tank for about R10 000.00, complete with steel frame, cabinetry and sump. I am just going to have to find the space in my R12 000.00 pm, 160sqm apartment! LOL

If you go for six months, and your job, or other halves job is sending you. Then ask that part of the salary package is that the work must pay for a furnished apartment. So much simpler. But if you do not like the couch, tough, you have to live with it for 6 months only.

I "almost" had an opportunity in Portugal (Lisbon) for 6 months last year. And it was part of my criteria, and it was accepted. Reason why I did not go was other main contract that opened up for my company I worked for here in SA.

Head off underwriting here in SA, will be a Vice president for a US company with offices in Honk Kong!
I hope we get it, I love this country, but we are so sick of the crime and politics, and we need to think of the future of our son!

I'm off to Canada myself after I'm done with my masters. Tired of the job/qualification mismatch in this country. I've already received numerous offers from Toronto and Vancouver which actually matches what I've studied and pays much better than SA.

Doesn't go to say that I love SA and will miss it dearly but I'm 23 and I've personally dealt with life threatening crime on more than one occasion.

So if you have the opportunity, go for it!
