my deal with my wife is she pays the electricity so when she moans i will ask her :)

as for heat its actually an entire room that gets heated so its even more stable on the colder evenings .. higher humidity though...

Your tank is looking awesome, Les!
I am so jealous of your powder tangs, do they not fight with each other?

Thank you for the kind words, i was extreemly lucky to get both from a guy shutting down in PE for R1000, he had already had them paired for some time and they were actually actiing like sibblings and shoaling, infact when i got them the blue protected the goldrim from the purple!! they still swim together.. my experience with trying to pair them in the past was always unsuccessful the one hussling the other untill it died then dying itself due to stress and exhaustion!

the blue has lost a little weight but in a discussion with the previous owner to get feeding tips we worked out that because my tank was bigger he was obviously burning off more energy and loosing weight.. i have managed to stabalise that now...

they both still get the odd spot but i feed them well and treat them like any other fish and just limit fiddling...

the addition of these 2 fish is a milestone for me as i consider them to be my all time nemesis fish!

    stoked..

its a big difference i chicked alot of dead pieces of coral who had been stung and overgrown. so its really bare again..

hes so healthy and loves the space..

i cut out alot of the arctic phalys nd calcium burnt alot of pest zoas and star polyps, im skimming big time at the moment so hoping ill skip a mini cycle...

Sorry to hijack but Pls can you elaborate on calcium burnt pest zoas... Trying to get rid of some pest phalys and this sounds interesting.

the insta cal powder gets very hot when it comes into contact with water or a moist surface so when i drained my tank i threw raw calcium crystals over the areas laden with GSP and phalys.... it has deffinatley done some damage , i then allow the skimmer to skim out any toxins. i dident but it may be a good idea to run some coarbon in order to help with the chemical warefare!

a bit of sad news i lost my gammy yellow tang, its been struggling for a while to keep up to the others and i think it got stung in the rescape as it had a massive burn on its one side, its an old fish coming out of the previous owners tank of like 8 years odd, i rehabilitated it to the best of my ability and it managed to grow its fins back to an extent and swim.. he was never a show fish more like a pet.. i havent told the kids yet so that will be the next step as they were quite ond of him..
