    Hi guys

I just wanted to know if you could keep a mandarin and a leopard wrasse that is eating prepared foods in the same tank

The wrasse will be the one eating and if the mandarin does that would be great too

The only other fish in the tank will be a flame angel and a Bangai cardinal

Please share your thoughts and experiences

The tank will be fine for a leopard wrasse(deepest sand bed 3-4cm) and I will buy him eating prepared foods or get the LFS to get him onto the foods.

    Thanks

Yeah, should be no problem, as long as they have enough food from the rocks as well, remember they both eat 'pods and even if the wrasse is eating prepared food and the mandarin is not, the wrasse will still eat from the rocks. Make sure you have a system mature enough to handle their nutritional requirments. Both very nice fish!:)

Fish aren't in the tank just asking if they can both be kept in one tank without completion for food

Willhave about 22 kg of live rock in the system and also a mini refugium

    How big is the tank?
Just because the leopard wrasse is eating prepared foods, does not mean it wont be competing for pods with the mandarin.

The tank is a 650x650x500 cube.....the tank will have a mini refugium and I will have a pod factory up and going shortly to dose the tank

I know that both fish eat pods but I was reading that the leopard wrasses diet consiste of only 20% Copepods and amphipods max!

The other 80% is made up of other small sea crust anions and everyone assumes that they are a type of pod bt they aren't

The mandarins diet is the one that mainly eats the pods etc

    Thanks

My guess is that ultimately that tank will be big enough for the two of them.
Maybe a bit more live rock than the 22Kgs you are proposing.
A refugium will also go a long way to supplying the food requirements, just make sure you stock it up with macro algae etc (watch the calerpa that just dies off for no reason)
