I have found a supplier of LED T5's, Please comment on the specs below.

Wanting to know if it would work with marines.

My concern is the 7000K kelvin rating.

Description:
1) Working Voltage: 85~265VAC
2) Power Consumption: 4.5 Watts
3) Light output: 280lm
4) UV-resistant PMMA tube housing, with T5 bi-pin socket at both sides
5) Qty of LED: 24pcs super bright Tri-chip White SMD LEDs
6) Length: 54.0CM (same as traditional T5 fluorescent tube)
7) T5 Diameter: 1.6CM (5/8 inch)
8) Ambient Temperature: -20 ~ 40 degrees Celsius
9) Quick mounting brackets provide ease of installation and lower installation costs
10) Color temperature: 6500K~7000K

that's not bad considering that it will only use 5W.how long do you think they'll last?

andreas Light Emitting Diaodes have longer life span than the normal florecent tubes
they run for approxamately 50 000 hrs, absolutely cool to the touch,

You right on the money - 50000 hours is like 14 years usage ;)

How much would the balast cost?
Suppose you could use it to light macro algae with-out heating up the water in your sump...

well I run 8000k osram's and see no problem with 7000k. Just add a blue to take away the yello if you like. Corals will like the 7000k i think?

Can you get me one if you gonna try?

there are different modles of the t5 LED tubes, some connect direct to your main
home power point and some of them are designed to fit into your normal t5 ballast ect ...

So one tube burning an average of ten hours a day will last 13.5 years. Value for money

Do they shift spectrum over time?
What PAR value do they run at?
Are they available in the blue actinic?
What lenghts are they avaialble in?

WOW ...the heat reduction will be awesome... i am keen to try 1 as well ...Warr......how can u hook us up???

Do they shift spectrum over time? - Not sure about this, but I would doubt it as it has no filament or gas that breaks down, but I could be wrong.

What PAR value do they run at? What is this ?

Are they available in the blue actinic? Haven't seen anything

What lenghts are they avaialble in? 550, 850 and 1150mm
