Leds are becoming more and more popular and there are a lot of questions \, information on the net. But maybe we can use this thread as a database for leds .
DIY builds or Purchased units. It would be nice if everyone that has or had an led unit, add their bit info to the thread. If I remember correctly I have seen a similar thread on another forum a few years back, its also old.

    A few questions -

    1. Size of tank
    2. Previous Lights
    3. How long have you had LEDs on your setup
    4. Describe your LED Build/Unit
    Colour Ratio :
    Nr of LEDs
    Lumen and wattage of LEDS
    Heatsink - DIY or purchased
    Drivers
    Angle of optics used.
5 . Happy or regretting going over to LEDS
    6. local or imported LEDs
7 Corals - softies, sps, lps etc.
    8.Cost

and finally some photos would be great.

    Ill add my info tomorrow.

    1. Size of tank
    750L display
    2. Previous Lights
    T5 8 tubes 54W
    3. How long have you had LEDs on your setup
Next month it will be a year
    4. Describe your LED Build/Unit
Radion Gen 2 with TIR lenses
5 . Happy or regretting going over to LEDS
Not too happy when it was 3 units, but since adding another unit I'm happy. TIR lenses upgrade also worthwhile. My rock stack is fairly high and initially it was as if both end points were not under the light. Since adding a 4th unit and widening the mounting bracket by 30cm I do get full coverage. With the later TIR upgrade, the light is much more focused and visually an improvement.
    6. local or imported LEDs
Imported, but bought all 4 units secondhand
7 Corals - softies, sps, lps etc.
    Mostly softies, a few LPS,
    8.Cost
Bought them all secondhand at about R5500 each. Then the extra cost of the TIR lenses (think just under R300 per unit)

    Hi

Just for the result part of thread....I recently got some corals in...this one in particular lost 2 branches in transit...this picture taken exactly 8days after I placed him in my tank....two broken branches already grew back about 6-7mm..

So I think it is safe to say LED works on the growing part...:)
