    Hi All,

I would like to have a discussion (HELP) how to add just a LED strip lights on the lid with the standard lights in the tank.

I would like to add more light to the TL450 :)

    Hey.
To be honest with u if u want to add leds(strips) and its the decent type that needs cooling then it will not work...The standard lights produce way to much heat and the fans cant get it out fast enough...I build a hole new lid with 450 and the 550 lights in...Leds hate heat so the will not last long if u cant keep them cool...My advise is go all leds or mod the hood to fit more Pl tubes...
    Check the build...

    Hi,

I got some LED's from China Town, glued them on with gemkem, used inline fuse just in case and powered by 12V AC/DC adapter. Great cheap option for moonlight effect. No additional heat problems, unfortunately useless for lightning purposes "I asume, I'm still a super newbe in this awesome hobby" Since I have no corals or fish yet this way my tank at least looks PIMP'IN !

    Hi All,

    Thanks for the input.
Thank you WES for the web side. Will look into this to make then nice moon lights. So we agree that LED will not assist making more light for corals requiring more lights like clams.

depends on depth, I don't think a par mete has ever been put up under strip LED's, I have however grown local ZOA under Stips in my TL550.
