    Hi Guys

Can you guy help me understand what is the correct features for LED lights for a mix reeftank.:lol:

I found dees LED lights. Will like to now if they can work for a mixreef tank of about 600mm deep. The diameter of the lights is 120mm and they are extremely bright. Can put maybe 4 or 5 of them in a row. :whistling:

It's very difficult to say if they will be enough for a mixed reef. You must also take into acount the depth of your tank. The wattage is very important as well. Try to get more info, only then will be able to help out. Do you know who the manufacturers are?

Will try to get the wattage on them. I switched one on in a dark room and it gives more light than a normal 250watt spot light. They use them for head lights on locomotives.
My tank will be 600mm deep.

woohoo! LOL, sorry couldn't resist. Find out as much as possible. They might be bright, but also may not produce the correct wavelength of light for coral life.

5500k is a good colour temp, but it wont be totally sufficient for colour growth. Your tank should have a mix of colours that have an average of 12000k colour, this will be optimal. I would supplement these leds with some T5 globes, like actinic blues, maybe add five T5, not sure what the other guys think. Red is a great colour, but it's not really essential, it has only been recently that people have started to realise that some red is good, along with green.
In short, you might have some bright LEDs but they will not be 100% sufficient for optimal growth in your tank.
I am sorry if this is not the news you would like to hear, but, like I said, you can still utilise the led's as long as you supplement with other globes. :)
