Where did you get the customs value calculator?

    What category do you use.

This bit on LEDs looks like a serious run around?

"Aquarium Led has an import duty rate of 20% and VAT rate of 14%. As per the Consolidated List of Prohibited and Restricted Imports, this product is subject to a Letter of Authorization (LOA) from the South African Bureau of Standards."

This is correct, LED's only exempted from duty's if they are loose diodes i.e that are not connected to a supply or a circuit. Believe us we got a hefty fine by our supplier using the incorrect commodity code The correct code is - 9405.40.21

The 20% is OK, it is the LOA that I am baffled about.

Found even though it says 3W LED, it is limited to 2W each.

Decided to support local guys in CT. The risk, hassle, plus hidden cost in the fine print makes price R 2 500. Also hate giving credit card info over internet, was zapped a few months ago when Amazon accounts were hacked.

Ordered my Pharos 90w from Reef Aquatics. Higher Lum output, tank mount included, looks a lot sleeker plus 1 year RSA warranty.

Can't wait to pick it up next week.
