So I'm looking at building another canopy that is suspended from the ceiling and have an open top tank. I want to use 6w led lights they are rated at 5500k 380lm and gona use them in combination with coral blue t5's that I purchased last month.

Now will these led light be sufficient for my corals like zoas and monti's? And in future for any other coral?

If you are referring to LED downlights, as a test I put a 3 x 3W LED 6000k 630LM Downlight over my tank and the colour looked yellowish. Think it'll only fuel algae growth.

I think the main problem is the k rating not the power(w) the lower k ratings fuel plant growth like alge or your indoor herb garden where as the corals have adapted to use the blue light found deeper down which is produced by the higher k bulbes

5500k will do wonders for cannabis. Unfortunately its very yellow. Like a daylight energy saver.
