Hi I have a 6 foot tank with 2 400w MH and the heat generated is huge as I only run them for 5 hours a day the rest of the time my tank is "dull"

I took PV pipe T pieces and made a LED light that can be used as a spot on any point in the tank

I used 12 180k LEDs 10 white and 2 Blue for main lighting, and 1 white for a moon light.
See below for pics it has made the tank look good with the MH on as well.

Simple and can be made any size

What are you doing to move the heat from the leds? i.e. heatsink maybe fans?

From my own experience with leds, if the are run hot, they pop easily.

Is those leds like the normal household type. Is the pipes not hot? I would make openings at the back at the highest point to allow hot air to flow out.

yes normal house hold and no they dont get to hot... i have left the vents on the face of the LED open and as you can see the pipes angle up and i put in two 50 mm openings at the highest point I had them run for a few hours with very little heat

two big to fall in small opening lol, the pin point from the LEDs looks great at night, like beams of sunlight.

Once i have stocked the tank then ill PVC weld each light where it must be at the moment they are free to move but cant fall in so no stress there, they pipe is actually very ridged it is a square frame and weighs very little.
