Time has come for me to buy a decent lawnmower and my head is buzzing with all the different ones out there

Petrol it is

Have a chat to Watson at Concrete Works Durban, they can service and supply new units, your best bet if you have a bit of a budget ask them about a hoffmann unit, copy of the Honda, but in my opinion has a better motor, should be a 6.5 HP motor.

Whats your budget?
I bought myself a Ryobi 140cc industrial, makro had it on special for 2.5k where as normal price was 3.5 k.
I had a look at all models and brands, the ryobi was the best option for the money and its more heavy duty then competitors in the price range.
Spares and service is available from builder's warehouse and some private companies service them as well.

If you want something which is going to last you 20 years get yourself an professional chassis with a nice engine like a honda or kawasaki. But they go for around 6 to 8 k.
But it all depends on the m2 you want to cut and the engine.

Thanks guys for the contacts and info, will try them out

anyone heard of the briggs and stratton motors, are they any good

The yamaha are like 5-9k each and an agent said they not that good ??? talking bollocks maybe

briggs are kak, Breek en Staan

One of my mechanics service about 200 motors a month, mostly Honda, spares are easy to come by, hoffmann spares are just copies of the Original Honda spares, sometimes a better version of the Honda spare.

Yamaha are a good motor, spares are a problem on occasion and are a little more expensive.

I dont like brigs and stratton due to the prime button which you need to replace every year.
Where as a 'choke' on a engine never needs to be replaced.
But I have never used a brigs so I cant comment on the quality of the engine.
A new engine will never give you problems as long as you service it yearly and never cause it to flood.
