Hi guys what product can I use to get my kh op
There are many you can use from DIY to commercial.
For kH I prefer a powdered additive over a liquid additive (more bang for buck).
Personally I use bicarbonate of soda bought from PNP. Cheap and does the job.
what is your kh sitting at? also include your Ca and Mg please.
also never raise KH more than 0.5dkh per day
Is that normal baking soda or what name do I look for on the packet
My kh sitting at 4 and my calsuim at 480 and I've got n calsuim reactor in isn't my calsuim reactor supposed to push up my kh
What test kit are you using to test kh? I had one test kit that read 4, and then bought a different brand test kit which showed 7.6. Before adding things to your tank maybe consider getting the water tested by the LFS to confirm the kh reading, alternatively by another test kit
I use the redsea kh testkits and use their "B" addative for kh, very effective
What is your pH?
If your KH is 4meq/L then a calcium of 480ppm and a pH of 8.2 is correctly balanced.
If you KH is 4dKH then you are way out.
4meq/L is = 11.2 dKH
i think its important to form a good understanding before you tinker too much..
i definatley wouldent add anything but rather focuss on tuning your carx to perform optimally and stabalise both your alk and cal..
be careful of adding baking soda as it will become rapidly available and increase your kh quickly so perhaps smaller doses over a longer period testing frequently inbetween dosses?
in short no rabid change is recomended in the types of enviroments we are trying to recreate.. stability with small increment changes is a better practice.
hi guys did n calsuim test this morning and it didnt show up on the test is this possible did it twice is my calsuim reactor not working leeke or what must i replace my media or must i just top up ann what will be the simptons of very low kh in your tank
