    Hi Guys,

Came home today about found my Keyhole Angel between the rocks on its side breathing very rapidly.

I have had the little guy for almost a week and was fine yesterday when I saw last. I have moved him into the sump so I can monitor better.

My current paramaters are (tested last night):

    Temp - 25
    Ammonia - 0.01
    Nitrite - 0.05
    Nitrate - 8
    Ph - 8.1
    Alk - 3.5
    Salinity - 1.024

Worried that he wont make it through the night, anything I can do?

Your ammonia should b 0. So i am not sure whats up with your system? Is it new? Also, u had the fish for a week, which means that this could b any number of things. In my experience, there isnt much a hobbyist can do once fish reach this stage, except to get the parameters under control for the future

Thanks Marine101 just checked now on the little guy and he hasnt made it :(

Yes my system is new, been running for about 8 weeks now, my ammonia is normally 0 and this is the first time its been > than 0 for a few weeks only thing I can think of is maybe I'm feeding too much which has lead my ammonia to rise as well as my nitrite rise as its usually undetectable.

Could an ammonia and nitrite shift so small possibly caused this? All my other guys are doing well (except my poor starved cleaner wrasse but hes doing better in the sump and eating better now as well :)).

Well, as u know a marine aquarium is really a mini ecosystem, with many variables. 8wks really isnt much time at all for it to become established, especially for a fish like a keyhole. There will b mini spikes due to many things, yes like feeding, but also because your live rock may not have colonised optimaly yet, and things like temperature and salinity also affect ammonia toxicity. So time is the 'key'. So u c, all this is assuming its your system, but because the fish is 1wk, there are many causes in its own right to die.
