This is a great website. Karen has worked very hard putting it together.

You may want to put this in the Invertebrate forum.

she certainly has worked hard and its a resource often used by people the world over. she should be thanked.

i'll ask a mod to move it and make it sticky, way too many nennie problem threads on MASA and we need noobs to really learn what having a nennie is all about.

Anemone would you help me in writting a basic care sheet for nennies and what to look for, when to buy one (tank ages etc) what sort of tank is needed etc etc. Simple husbandry things. I would happily write and you add or edit if you feel up to it? also we can punctuate the thread with some decent pics between us? Are you up for that?

I can try. Can you give me a list of anemones commonly kept in SA?

sure, ill get hold of the main LFS and see what they are primarily supplying and that will give us the best idea.

although should we start on the genric of water flow, water quality, maturity, lighting, tank size etc and then buildt it into the specifics?

BUT id say the most common (from my limited knowledge) would be
    Entacmaea quadricolor (bubble tips)
    Macrodactyla doreensis (Long tentacle anemone)
    Hetereactis crispa
    Heractis magnifica( ritteri anenome)
Carpet anenomies (although i am not sure which of the three species Stichodactyla gigantica, Stichodactyla haddoni, Stichodactyla mertensii) are most common.

to be honest volumes could be wrotten on each species, i think we would be better off generliasing to start and specialise later on?

I actually started this about two years ago for WWM. Its now 9 pages typed and not even close to being finished. Every time I'd think of something, I'd open it up and make a note of things that needed to be added. I haven't looked at it in a while. I'll take a look at it in the next few days and see what I can pull out that would cover most anemones. Take sizes is going to be a problem for me since I am not used to the Metric system.
