then don't use Kalk like that as you need to make sure you don't increase your PH level to much you going to need a PH meter

I don't think I have the full understanding of what you trying to do & why your CA is so low in this drum? is this new salt water you mixed? there are other ways to increase your CA - what are the other prams? KH & Mag?

    Kh - 10

The ca level in tank is 340 so the question what ammount of kalk can i use to increase my ca as the instructions say it will raise ca in 3.785 with 2.3 ppm (6g) so in 1l it will raise with 0.6 can i dubble the dose or not i know that it will raise the ph but if i drip it at a very slow rate i think it will be ok or am i wrong. I want to this because i want to mix the kalk in a 25l drum and then drip it in the return chamber

    thanks charl

There are a few issues there - 25Ltr of fresh water now enter your tank & your PH is going to swing!!

Rather get Brightwell Aquatics Calcion-P to get your CA to the level it needs to be at then use Kalk to keep it there

also MG if low will drop your CA levels

I'm not too sure of the product you are using but does it also influence your alk levels? If alk is already high...u can sometimes battle to get the CA up, so to speak.

Do yourself a favour check this link....IMO it would be easier to use the additives posted here

    Reef Chemistry Calculator

(like the Kent, Seachem or TM stuff)..makes it much easier to calculate how much to add based on your tank volume and the your desired levels. The safest levels would be 8 for Alk and 400 for Ca. Natural seawater is around 7dKH and 380ppm for Ca.

i use a 25l RO drum in 3 days due to evaporation as topup so i thought that i can rather topup with ca than with RO water

    I don't have a mg test kit

Well one should never really top up with just pure RO water as the PH of RO water is not the same as sea water that's why we use Kalk Reactors & have RO go through the reactor before the tank. so your idea is not bad just have to make sure your PH is not 2 high

& also rather use a supplement to get your CA up & then start the Kalk dosing but you going to need to check your PH to make sure you don't over do it

The % of the other stuff in Kalk+2 is very little "Strontium & MG" so it can't be used as a all in one supplement I wanted to do the same when I first started out
