Hi, I came accross this LED light.

It is 40cm x 27cm x 5cm. Was wondering if it could be made to fit into a Boyu 550 lid.

Some pictures and details below. (There are a range of these lights for bigger tanks as well).

Would appreciate views on this and if anyone has experience with these lights.

Does any of the Sponsors offer these lights?

I'm sitting with the TL-450...so mine is a bit smaller...don't know those that you are posting...I scaned thru them once, but they were to long for my BOYU...I was looking into these at the time...

My Favourite...you can get these in Cape Town....not a Sponsor...

I'm hoping one of the Sponsors can help - but it they can't I found it at $300 for the lights plus $60 shipping. (Plus customs which is a random amount!)

Nope, but I'm not in a hurry. I found an international supplier through which I can get it once I'm ready...

Yes. Too be honest, I was planning on finding someone to do it for me. (Not so good with the wires!)

I picked up a chiller for cheap, so I'm also now wondering whether it is possible to get a lid with a MH light, like the new Boyu's have.

Ok I see what you mean I would offer to give you a hand but you are a bit far.
It is just a bit of an expensive option, but I understand if you are not good with wiring.
The problem is that You are buying a unit with a stand, an enclosure and fans, when you already have all that in the hood. You would probably have to take out the whole light unit including cover and you would also have to find a way to attach it. I really dont think it would fit inside the light cover. Of coarse the easiest option is just to remove the hood completely. It is a nice looking fixture though, where did you find it?

Yep, I have the hood open on my other Boyu. Water just seems to evaporate a lot faster! Not sure about forum rules whether I can post a link of a online store here. I'll PM it to you.

I know what you mean since I added 2 fans to mine the evapoation has gone up a lot but it helps with the heat.
