Hi Guys - i have added a juv regal angel in my tank - he was very shy for the first 2 days and i only saw him peck slightly on the rocks. The corner that he usually hides has a Sun Sun pump and this morning i found him stuck to the outer cage of it with no right fin. I have taken him out and placed him in the sump. His gills look quiet red and he cannot swim properly cos of only one fin. What can i do to nurse him back to health.

    Regards
    Duran

do you have a QT you can setup to put him into?? and then get some good quality copper and nurse him back in there. ON angel mix is a must for good health. mine can not stop eating it!

I know - im just as stressed as this fish. I have put him in the sump jus over the DSB so it is a low flow and i hope he makes it. He cannot swim properly cos the one fin is almost gone.

how much of its fin is missing? Pics???
Best bet it to put it in a region with very little flow so that he doesnt have to fight any current. Then feed highly nutrtitous foods (ON angel mix is a good option, my tangs go crazy for it) and monitor its health very closely.
Keep a close watch for any infection and treat that accoridngly.

Good luck with nursing it back to health!!!

I had a baby trigger get stuck to my skimmers intake, sucked his whole face skew, gill damage, eye damage, thought he was a goner (also got a WS breakout after this), but luckily recovered, took about a week to fully recover, been a couple of months now and he is in excellent health no scars or deformation.

I also gave him garlic with his food.

I guess i should taken a bit of precaution and kept him in the sump for a few days to get stronger. The reason i didnt do it was because i had a lionfish and lunar wrasse in the sump that someone was meant to pickup. If anyone know of any regals in good condition and eating in a LFS please let me know?
