    HI all,

My names Wade, just introducing my self to this wonderful forum.

Been into marines for just a few years, currently set up a new 4ft system. All parameters seem to be 0, and salinity is 1025. PH 8.3

battling a bit with temp as i am in durban, my tank has glass sliders on top, so its enclosed.

need to get a chiller asap.

Anyway for now just saying hello,

    Thanks
    Wade

P.S not sure if you can see my tank pics, but if so comments an advice welcome.

    Welcome to MASA.
For starters, remove the glass sliders on top of your tank, will help with the temp issues but will not solve it. Instead of buying a chiller which can be expensive, you can hook up 2 or 3 big pc fans over the tank or sump and this will also help with temperature.

Look at modifying your sump, I had a similar setup, bashed out the centre dividing board out and put a steel brace in the front end, this enabled me to get a much bigger sump. This will give you more water volume and a larger filtration area. My 2c.

Hope to see more of your setup as you progress along..

    Thank you for the suggestions,

I have been pondering the sump setup, as i can see it battling once tank is fully stocked. I would like to setup a DSB, would a 3 ft sump do ? I also want space for a chiller and auto top up. as this is currently an enclosed sump, and I have minimal evaporation, and fear this will greatly increase once i install a new open sump.

Was wondering about a steal brace and being able to cut away the center support, I will look into this, and update pics.

I have had a new tank built to the exact same specs as the one in the pics, as it was bought second hand and has some nasty scratches, This is being installed over the weekend :1:

    thanks once again guys !

Just need a 10 - 20L top up system and shouldnt have probs with evaporation once you have open sump.
