    Hello everyone!

After looking after a bubble eye goldfish for a few months and deriving great pleasure from the experience, I have decided to take on a new project - to build a Jellyfish aquarium!

I have searched online for pet stores selling the jellies/supplies in South Africa but have not yet come across any. Does anyone know who I could contact? If you have any experience in this area, please share, I would really appreciate any help I can get!

    Warm regards,
    Dave Raichlin ;)

well this is not the first thread concerning this i could tell you that. also would not recommend going that route for your first project as jellyfish is 5000 steps higher care level then a gold fish, i would suggest to first maybe try going for something a bit easier like a normal system with some soft corals. first gain some experience as even some of the normal fish can be extremely hard to keep.

Jelly fish are nice to look at, but a mission to keep from what I've heard. They require a kreisel tank to start off with which needs to be kept reasonably clean without damaging any of the fish.

Jellyfish are actually really easy too keep IF you have them alone is a specially designed tank. Biggest issue you'll face is getting hold of some as I can't imagine they ship particularly well.

Wow thanks guys! I really didn't expect a response so soon :) I know that it can be a bit of a mission, but I'm looking for a challenge! I have found some basic plans for a rounded tank but still can't find anyone selling jellies...I suppose I could call a diver in C.T to catch me some?

If you going to get a jelly from CTN you'll have to add a strong chiller as the temp fluctuation will harm the jelly. We do have variouse types of jellies even the little box jelly but try & are your local LFS if they can bring in some moon jellies they awesome.

I have seen @Perky pets bring in an upside down jelly so yes they do import.

the jellies you should enquire about are, moons, fried egg, white spotted and up side down, they are all pretty hardy (as far as jellies go) and they wont sting you if you handle them (they actually dont get affected to much by being handled as long as its not frequently) you will also have to start an artemia culture for feeding purposes :)
