    Hi All.

I decided i should "document" my experience of drilling my Jebo tank.
I have tried to get as much "drilling" information specifically around the "JEBO / Juwel range of tanks that have been drilled successfully and there is very little information that came across.

I have obviously used some tried and tested methods that were discussed on this forum by other more experienced mariners and they worked well.

So here goes the pics and the methods i used to get the job done on a JEBO 1.2 meter tank.

BTW, this hole was drilled on the back glass, which is about 10mm thick.
The tank lying on its "front glass" on thick towels.

The tools..Normal Hole saw(used to make a TEMPLATE on a masonite board). This allows you to drill a nice hole without the drill "running" on the smooth glass. A 52 mm Glass Bit. Paid R80 from a tool hire shop...bargain as it sell for R250 at Builders Warehouse. A battery drill....slower speeds for control.

Water Well in Template to start the initial cut on the glass. Masonite board still in place.

Water well close up. I used a jug filled with water and a drip pipe ran from this to the well. This gave me constant cool , fresh water and allowed me to remove the "white" glass water that is produced.

Play dough is then used. Placed it around the "initial cut" and filled with water ...didnt have "window putty", but do have Kids with play dough.

Hole drilled 1 hour later. Placed a bucket on the inside of tank with a little water in there to catch the cut glass once it was done.

Everything works perfectly fine and my Dorso pipe is near "silent".

    Hopes this helps

Did it take you an hour to drill the tank? I usually just go balls to the wall, haven't broken a piece yet. Normally it takes me less than 5 mins to drill 10mm glass.

Didnt have the "balls" to do it...and it was my first time...ever drilling glass. Aswell, didnt know how thick the back glass was so took it reallllyyy easy and as slow as comfortable as i felt. Didnt really want to break the glass on my first try.:)
