    Hey Guys,

I have a 100L nano & need to get some flow in it. BRS mentioned something about the ideal flow in a tank is about 30x-50x your folume depending on what corals you will be stocking.

A rw-4 has a max flow rate of about 40x my volume, but i dnt want to run the pump at full speed all the time,

So my idea is to fit 2 rw-4's at a lower speed, also i would sync them up so they work together creating random flows in the tank. In my head, running both at half speed (2000l/h) will togther create a flow of about 4000l/h?

Am I overthinking this & is it a bit overkill or will 1 RW-4 will be enough. Otherwise ill just go with 1 RW-8 wavemaker

    Tank size: 760x310x400

Will be place opposite sides of eachother.

    Thanks guys

    Hey @Vleis Visagie

I have 2xRW4's in my 150L tank that is 60x50x50, the only mode I like running them on is else mode, this ramps the speed up and down randomly. The downside to this is you cant set it to not ramp higher than 50%, in this mode, if I am wrong someone correct me.

The result is nice random flow but it has blown my substrate away until I had the angles correct, now I have no more open spots on the bottom. In your size tank it will work if you position them on the left pane and right pane facing each other but pointed upward slightly, or one pointed up and the other straight.

    Hope this makes sense.

Hehehehe makes enough sense for me to understand.

Yes I have figi pink substrate & have a feeling that it might be to fine & blow around. But I guess if you aim them up then some of the flow dissipate by the time it hits to substrate.

Are both on at the same time or do you have them on timers?

    Thanks for replying bud.

    Youre welcome.

Nope mine are on 24/7, I recently enabled the night mode which reduces the amount of flow when the sensor doesnt sense light anymore. It is very sensitive in the sense (I said sense a LOT) that it enters night mode too soon but overall everything still seems fine.

There is a mode where one would be off and the other on and then vice versa but its really only for a couple of seconds.

Im not sure I understand how they would work on timers? Care to elaborate?

    Jaco.

What I mean with "timer" is that one is on else mode for 1hr then it switches off & the other one starts.

I Dnt even know if there is something like that out there, but i believe there will be, since you can do it with lights & stuff. Heheheheheh.

Oh I see, you can probably get timers and set them up that way, I just cant recall if it remembers the last mode it was on when it loses power or if it defaults back to the first mode.

I'm actually considering a RW-8 with the wifi instead of the 2xRW-4

    Pretty cool little thing
