Over the last 8 month a tank consisting of a lot of gismos has been put together. The tank is not quiet finished yet but I thought reefers might want to enjoy the rest of the journey with us. We are setting this tank up mainly for SPS.
Let’s look at what has been achieved over the previous Eight months.
When Waldo Nell “LikesFish” on MASA (MR31415 on RC) of centurion decided to immigrate to Canada he sold off most of his equipment to the local enthusiasts. The Tank and all the leftovers were bought by JayPjay. This is his old tank and cabinet base. The rest is items left over from a smaller tank plus a lot of new items purchased.
The DT holds 1600l of water and the sump/DSB about 300l. The filter room is situated outside the house about 10 meters from the DT.
    Equipment and essentials
    Tank 1600l 2600x800x800
Substrate 400kg Aqua Medic Hydrocarbonate fine 2-3mm
    260kg Indonesian live rock
    Circulation is 2 x Tunze 6100.10, 2 x 6201 and 2 x Tunze 6105 with 7095 controller and y splitter.
    Lighting is 16 x 54w T5 aquablue+, 8 x 54w T5 actinic Pure and 3 x 400w actinic Metal halides. Light fittings are home made.
Sump/DSB is 300l with 50 kg Aqua Medic Hydrocarbonate 2-3mm for the DTB and bio balls for filter media.
Return pumps are 2 x Eheim 3264 pond pumps
    Heaters are 4 x Jaeger 300w
    Chiller is a hailea 1000HB
Calcium reactor is a Deltec APF601 with a CO2 solenoid and CO2 bottle.
Kalkwasser stirrer is a Deltec KM500
Phosphate and carbon reactors are Deltec FR501 running 1000ml Rowa Phos in the one and Rowa Carbon in the other.
Protein skimmer is a Deltec APF902
Aquatronica aquarium controller consisting of: Controller, 4x Power Units, 2x PH probes, 1x Density probe, 1x ORP Probe, 1x level sensor, 3x Temp sensors, 1x SMS module 1x Ethernet Module, 1x Dosing Pump and 1x logging PC.
In the filter room and aquarium hood there is an assortment of fans for heat extraction.

wow, very neat! nicely done janitor. Well nicely directed i should say.

I had wondered what had happened to that tank, of waldo's 4 tanks all are still on MASA strangely enough. Warr has the 1.5m, i brought the 1.8m, lanzo the mantis tank and here is the 4th. Very nice.

Love the 260kg of cycling rock, 8 months is a long cycle though :)

the sump really is beautifully put together and you have all the stiff needed for a great set up.

Any ideas on where the owner would like to take this tank? Reef with millions of SPS frags for people to beg for, or predator like waldo had it?

I see the sump area (under tank) is enclosed. was that just for neatness?

could we get a pic of the filter room?

Nice... It is good to see my tank doing well again. I miss that monster... Want to see some big predators darting my way when I am ready to feed them again.
