Nice. Will be following with interest. I'm hopeless at all this amps and voltage and all that stuff though.

The plan is to build it into the canopy with the controller in a little box on the outside.

Do not put it inside the canopy. Maybe yes if the top plank of the canopy is removed. You are using airflow to cool down your unit. Do not restrict it.

@RiaanP , thanks for the advice.
The canopy can open at the top and might just put two big fans in to extract the heat. that should work right ?
the canopy also have a 100 mm opening at the back.

Alternative is to use a jigsaw and cut a slot above the LED units.

ow far would the LED unit lenses be from the water.

Radion should be mounted if not mistaken between 22 and 27cm. That is to prevent water splashes and excessive moisture from damaging the units. If too close, maybe mount the units above the canopy and the slot.

also make splash guards for your units, corrosion will be your biggest challenge having them close to the water

will put on a splash guard , currently have sliders that covers the top of the tank.
maximum height from water lvl will be 20 cm with a 5 cm gap between canopy lid and unit.

Word of advice don't put the drivers on the heat sink... only generate extra heat, try to keep it separate...

Running the unit close to the water level. I doubt you will need. I have some spare optics that I removed off my unit if you wanna try them

I've also used LED Select in the past, decent prices, decent selection and stock, good seller.
