Got my stand today. Only realized it was 10cm too wide as I got home. But I actually like the idea. More sump space and area to work in underneath and a nice ledge that is perfecting for resting a beer.

Some stand building progress. Considering rather building a new sump than using my old one. Have got more than enough space underneath now. Might even add a little frag tank.

Unfortunately no progress. Got stuck in PE over the weekend with fires along the N2. Road was closed for long periods and missed a the gap that I had to get back.

    Finally there is some progress!!

Used shelving brackets for the light hood, so I can adjust the height easily. Still need to make it look a bit better, just trying out the idea here.

Building a section on the side for plugs and stuff.

Apart from the cost of the stand, I got over it and went to go buy a table saw to make my life easier! It was a good investment!

Need some recommendations on what paint to use to paint the inside and to just seal the wood properly so it doesn't swell at a later stage.

@jacohall , first use normal wood glue applied with brush to seal wood, then maybe some gp resin and after drying paint

I have used marine woodoc varnish on all mine up to now. 2 or 3 qoats of the stuff works a charm. Good product. Just be sure to seal those quarter rounds properly.

It's been quite some time. But finally got my butt in gear and started working on the tank again! Just have to glue plumbing and finish the light setup which will ultimately only happen when I install the LEDs that are currently running on the tank.

Question: I need to do a leak test with plumbing etc. My first time doing hard plumbing, so I'm expecting the worst. How should I go about this with water restrictions?

I just used old t5s to test and I haven't installed reflectors yet.

Looking good, now just to get it finished, maybe try some NSW to test, collect your own as sea not far from you.

Haha, the chairs are done, but it left me with a scar and I was out of action for a while! Pinky still not functioning properly! Had a piece broke out and drilled into my finger. [IMG]
